The reporter recently learned from the regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce that my country's service trade will continue to grow rapidly in 2021, with the total import and export of services reaching 5,298.27 billion yuan, and the service trade deficit narrowing to 211.27 billion yuan, which fully reflects my country's structure in the field of service trade. Positive results have been achieved in terms of adjustment and export competitiveness improvement.
The rapid growth of my country's service industry has laid a solid foundation for the coordinated development of trade in services. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2021, the added value of China's service industry will increase by 8.2% year-on-year, accounting for 53.3% of the GDP. The new kinetic energy of the service industry has been gradually stimulated, and new business forms and new models have emerged. At the same time, the new generation of information technology has greatly improved the tradability of services, and the continuous integration of manufacturing and service industries has significantly improved the quality and efficiency of service supply.
My country's export competitiveness of knowledge-intensive services has been significantly improved. In 2021, my country's export of knowledge-intensive services will increase by 18%; among them, exports of personal cultural and entertainment services, intellectual property royalties, telecommunications, computers and information services will increase by 35%, 26.9%, and 22.3%, respectively, showing strong export competition.
Exports of transport services grew rapidly. Affected by trade in goods and price factors, the export of transportation services will continue to grow rapidly in 2021. In 2021, my country's transportation service exports will reach 820.55 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 110.2%, making it the fastest growing area of exports among the 12 major areas of service trade. The export of transportation and knowledge-intensive services together drove the rapid growth of service exports throughout the year, with a growth rate of 31.4%, which was 26.6 percentage points higher than the growth rate of service imports, driving the service trade deficit to drop by 69.5% over the previous year.
